1. Overview

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Sitewise takes a minimal approach: we set one strictly necessary first-party cookie, use browser local storage for interface preferences, and set no third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

2. The cookie we set

• sitewise_token — a first-party, httpOnly, signed session cookie that keeps you logged in. It is essential for the service to work, cannot be read by JavaScript, and expires when your session ends or you sign out.

Because this cookie is strictly necessary, it does not require consent; the banner you see on first visit is a notice, not a consent request.

3. Local storage

We use browser local storage (not cookies) for interface preferences, such as:

• Your light/dark theme choice.
• Whether you've dismissed the cookie notice banner.
• Minor UI state, such as collapsed panels.

Local storage never leaves your browser and is not used to track you across sites. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

4. What we don't do

• No third-party analytics or advertising cookies.
• No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting or session replay.
• No sale or sharing of browsing data with advertisers.

We measure page visits with our own first-party, server-side counter, described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the sitewise_token cookie will prevent you from staying signed in, but the public parts of the site will still work.

6. Changes

If we ever add cookies beyond those described here, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
